How to use a promo code on Target
How do I redeem a Target promo code?
First, go to the Target website or app. Add item(s) to your Target cart, then click on checkout. Look for the promo code, coupon code, or discount code field on the checkout page. Enter the Target promo code into that field, then hit the apply button and check your savings.
Example:
Why didn’t my Target promo code work?
There are several potential cases where a promo code may not work at Target:
- It might not be valid without reaching a minimum spend amount.
- It might not be valid on specific items in your Target shopping cart.
- It might only be valid for first-time Target customers.
- It might be past its expiration date.*
If a Target promo code doesn’t work at checkout, try another one if more are listed. Alternatively, you can try these promo code hacks to see if one of them works. You can also try abandoning your cart (while logged in) to see if Target sends you an email with a coupon code as an incentive to complete your order.
*At Dealhack, we do the best we can only to show active promo codes, but there are some cases where codes can slip through the cracks.
Can I use a Target promo code after I place my order?
If you forgot to apply your discount code at checkout, contact Target support and they might be able to process a credit or refund if the promo code is applicable to your order.
How do I share a Target promo code?
To submit a Target promo code, email [email protected] with “Target Promo Code” in the subject field. Be sure to include the code, a description of the offer, any exclusions, and the expiry date.
Do Target promo codes expire?
Yes, most Target promo codes have an expiry date, which is listed below the code when we can confirm it. If you happen to come across a code that doesn’t work at Target, please hit the thumbs-down button and we’ll get a notification to check it again.
About Target
Founded as Goodfellow Dry Goods in 1902 and rebranded in 1962, Target is now the second biggest retailer in the US, with locations in Canada and India. As of October 2015, Target’s international website shipped to over 200 countries with no brick-and-mortar locations. Target has over 1,800 retail stores throughout the US in different store formats, such as SuperTarget, Target, TargetExpress, and CityTarget, depending on their location and the local customers’ shopping needs.
Target employs hundreds of thousands of people and offers everything from electronics and school accessories to home goods and health products. You’ll probably find a small Starbucks at Target retail locations and food counters where you can purchase popcorn or slushies to snack on while you shop. If you’re looking for a great deal on Target merchandise, keep reading to discover more.
Exploring Target.com
Target highlights its latest discounts and new arrivals at the top of its homepage, and you can shop by category from the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of its website. You’ll find everything from shoes, makeup, and clothing to outdoor gear, movies, and other electronic items for sale on their website. Fresh grocery items are not sold online, but you’ll still be able to find nonperishable food and beverages on Target.com.
If you regularly buy the same item from Target’s website, then you could save an additional 5% on your order by signing up for a subscription (not to mention: free shipping!). The subscription system lets you quickly decide your delivery dates and desired quantities. Target even offers free returns on subscription items if you decide you don’t like them or don’t want to receive them anymore.
Bargain Hunting with Target
Target has a great clearance section on its website, with the main categories being clothing for all ages and genders, home goods, and toys. If you live near a Target retail location, you could check out their Weekly Ad online for additional savings before buying. Some items come with a free $5 or $10 Target gift card when purchased in bulk. Be sure to sign up for the Target e-newsletter for the latest updates on their weekly deals.
You can find additional ways to save at Target by checking their current promotions section on their website or going on their Facebook page to see what’s currently hot.
Target REDcard
Target offers branded debit and credit cards called Target REDcards. Both cards include sweet member benefits like free shipping on Target.com, 30 extra days to return an item and 5% back on Target purchases. For the debit card specifically, there is no annual fee; you can withdraw up to $40 in cash at Target stores, it’s chip-and-PIN enabled, and the card pulls from your checking account when you make a purchase. The Target credit card has no annual fee, and the card has a security chip. With a credit card, you can manage your payments online.
Target Cartwheel App
Target has an app called Cartwheel. The company claimed their Cartwheel had saved its customers over $490,000,000 as of early 2016. With this app, all you need to do is locate the item you want to buy in the simplified search function in the app, scan the barcode on the itthingsou’re buying at checkout, and boom! Easy savings. You’ll need a Target, Facebook, or Google account to get started, but it’s so simple and can save you so much that it’s worth it for many Target regulars. Sample savings include 5% off cereal boxes, $5 off women’s fitness clothing, or Buy 1, Get 1 Free on a select brand of shampoo and conditioner.
Checking Out Target.com
When ready to check out on Target’s website, prepare your payment and billing information and any promo codes you might have for added savings. Target has an entire FAQ section dedicated to promo codes in case you encounter any problems when trying to apply coupon codes at checkout.
Target accepts various payment methods, including Target REDcard (both the debit and credit versions will save you 5% on your purchase), Target gift cards, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, and Apple Pay.
Contests and Sweepstakes
Target also loves hosting contests and sweepstakes for its customers. Sometimes there is no purchase necessary, and prizes typically consist of a range of Target gift cards from $25 to $1,500. They primarily promote these contests on their social media outlets, but you can also check their website for ongoing conflicts.
Target on Social Media
For the latest news on new Target items, seasonal savings, and coupons, follow Target on social media. Find their profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube to always remain in the know.
Subscribe to the Target Circle loyalty program to get 1% cash back on all purchases. If you have a Target RedCard, enjoy 5% savings for every order.
Enjoy a 5% discount from Target if you sign up for their rewards program, Target Circle.
If you have a Target REDcard or spend more than $25, then you’ll qualify for free shipping. You can also opt for free in-store pick-up. Rush delivery (same-day) is only available to residents in Boston, MA, Miami, FL, and Minneapolis, MN. If you can wait more than a day for your item, then you have the options of standard, premium, and express shipping. Shipping prices vary depending on your order.
Returns with Target are fairly straightforward. You can return an item ordered online in the store if you have the original payment method (e.g., a credit card), the item in excellent condition, and the packaging slip you received with the item in the mail. If you want to return an item by mail, you’ll have to access your Target order account online and start the returns process – printing the return label, assembling the return packaging, etc. – and get your refund within a few days.
Target has a customer service line just for their online customers at 1-800-591-3869, or you can choose to contact them through the live chat feature on Target.com.
