The list contains over 70 brands divided into 11 major categories, which are further divided based on the minimum age requirement. You can save this list in PDF format so you can print or use it for future reference.

General Discount Information for Canadian Seniors
Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP): CARP is an exclusive association for Canadians aged 50 and above. The annual fee is $19.95, which allows members to redeem benefits from partner hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. Discounts requiring CARP membership will be indicated throughout the list (source).
Always ask: Senior discounts are not always openly advertised. You should ask a store representative if they offer a discount every time you purchase.
Bring your ID: Proof of age is mostly required to get a senior discount. Always bring one government-issued identification card with you wherever you go shopping. These types of ID include your passport, driver’s licence, provincial health card, or Old Age Status (OAS) card.
Check your age: Senior discounts are generally available once you reach 50. Some stores may only offer discounts to customers at least 55, 60, 62, or 65 years old. This list easily helps you determine if you belong to the minimum age requirement for a particular store.

Excellent resource; I have added the link to our website – thank you
Yes this is very informative and interesting. Thanks good to know ahead of time..
All these discounts are available without being a member of carp they need to do better than this. Just call the stores and find out for yourself.
Hello! Discounts that require CARP membership were specified individually. Other stores only require ID or any proof of age to avail of their discounts and offers. Some brands only offer discounts at participating stores, so you have to contact the one nearest to your location. 🙂
CARP a pale imitation of AARP. Seems most of the listings you need to call to see if local business is participating….
Aside from the cheap business (select Thursday or 1st Monday), just ask at the checkout.
Great list, thanks so much for this information.
Jean Coutu offer 20% every Wednesday to 55+
Helping my mom out. Thanks for helpful information.
Great! I guess you have to ask for the discount at the cash. So if you are 50 or more just ask every time at the cash!
Do we need a CARP $19.95 members identification to be part of this Exclusive Association? It’s confusing because there no direction to purchase membetship.
Please explain Government identification ie: drivers licence? We’d certainly benefit from this offer but need specific details regarding the annual fee , where, how?
Hello Linda,
You do need to sign up for a membership at CARP if you want to enjoy their exclusive discounts at hundreds of partner stores and organizations. To purchase a 1 year membership card on their website, just click the “Join” button on the upper right corner. It will lead you to this page: https://shop.carp.ca/?icn=carp&ici=button_join&_ga=2.250219776.742191736.1553702081-1890195731.1553086959
With regards to the identification, stores that offer senior discounts usually require any government-issued ID card that provides proof of age (date of birth) such as driver’s license, passport, health card, or Old Age Security (OAS) card. Please take note that partner stores of CARP require you to present a membership card. But there are also plenty of shops out there that provide discounts to non-CARP members!
What programs do you have for seniors 80 and over with regards to house cleaning. Do you have any recommended house cleaners in the Burlington Ontario area. Please let me know if you have a recommended cleaners.

Can these seniors discounts be applied in conjunction with other discounts, like coupons?
Hello, Ed!
That depends on the policy of the store in which you are availing the senior discount! We’ve indicated some stores in this guide that have certain exclusions, restrictions, or limitations with regards to the use of their senior discounts.
Very informative, helpful and will definitely help those who are interested . Certainly helped me thank you

Thank you so much for writing this article, lots of good information and knowledge in here! I will have to get both my parents a CARP membership… who doesn’t like discounts?!
Hello Emma,
I have a question. My sister and I have the very same CF1 card, and we both are pensioners. Why is it that she gets more benefits on her card? Example, we went through an airport, she got to go through the special security, where you don’t have to take off your shoes or take any toiletries out of her carry on. Thanks
Hi, Willena. I’ve been trying to contact CFOne regarding this but I haven’t received a response yet.

Hi Emma,
Posted directly to CARP some years ago about inquiring about meetings , events etc. for Montrealers. Never received a reply.
I am jealous of Ontario chapters who seemed to have monthly events. Of course, I imagine Covid-19 has put a stop to these gatherings?? Spare a thought for Montrealers while you are staying safe. I am not good at organizing but I would be glad to volunteer.
Thanks for posting this list. Very helpful.
The Humpty’s Restaurant discount is for seniors 55 years and older. It was posted under the Age Not Specified section of the Food and Restaurant discounts. Can this be moved to the Aged 55 and Older section instead?
Unfortunately the RBC discounts are only in Trinidad and Tobago
Please follow your link to see.
Thanks for the list.

Ottawa Transit is now free for Seniors 65 and over on both Wednesdays and Sundays…this happened in the Fall of 2019, I believe.
Hi. Thanks for the info. Very helpful.
The link to the pdf is broken. Any idea on when it will be fixed?
Hello, Niles! Thank you for your bringing this up. The link is now fixed.
Thank you!
Hi Emma, thank you for the time & effort you put in to help/serve seniors. Q: Are all discounts available in all Provinces ? 1 Suggestion: place the comments in order present day to oldest. God bless…
Hello, Nicholas. I hope you are doing well. Unless specified otherwise, most of the discounts are available in all provinces. There may be some restaurants and movie theatres that offer varying discounts based on location, availability, and individual store policy.
Thank you for your feedback! I’ll do what I can to improve the readability of this post.
Hello Emma,
I stumbled on https://seniorsadvantage.org/ a site claiming to offer wide ranging discounts (up to 70%) for over 50 years old seniors in places like Costco, Walmart, Metro or Lowe’s. They offer a membership fee (heavily discounted if you become a member within 30 minutes of applying). Is that a legitimate program?
Hi, Kamel!
I checked the link and based on the Terms of Service in their website, Seniors Advantage is operated by a Lithuanian company named UAB inulti. I am not familiar with this company since Dealhack is based in North America and not Europe. Their official email address is [email protected] if you have any more questions about their program.
seniorsadvantage.org is a scam. Quick Google search “https://choice.community/t/is-anyone-familiar-with-senior-advantage/22005” shows a lot of red flags with this organization.
I think that best way to check it out is to go to wallmart and ask them about this program. I bet you ,they’ll tell you they have never heard about them.
Wow! Amazing information that I would definitely pass on to my mom who is 65 years old.
I also know from a friend that A&W give seniors (ages 60+ ) 10% off food purchases every day.
Thanks for the info! I’m 55 and didn’t know I’m considered a senior, lol! Great to know that I can save some money!
So glad I found this. Thank you.
I applied to seniors advantage but did not hear anything back from them although my credit card has been charged for it. I am also a Carp member. Is this the same. If so why was I charged for it?
Hello, Mary.
Did CARP send you a message on the email address you provided them when you signed up for a membership? If they did not, then you might consider chatting with a live agent, sending them an email inquiry, or checking out the FAQ on their website. Here is the link to their resource page: https://www.carp.ca/about#contact

Clarification for the Amaranth Whole Foods Market. They have three stores in Calgary and also one store in St. Albert, Alberta (on the outskirts of Edmonton). The Senior’s Discount is applicable at all stores in Calgary and St. Albert.
Your listing says 10% discount at M&M Food Market until January 31, 2021. That day has come and gone. Are they extending the deadline?
Hi Karen! The M&M Food Market senior discount has been extended beyond January 31 until further notice.
