Kmart Shopping Guide
Kmart has a long-standing history as a discount department store in the United States. Founded in 1899 as SS Kresge Corporation, Kmart later gained its current moniker in 1977 and acquired Sears in 2005. There are over 900 Kmart stores across 49 US states and a couple of US territories. Kmart also has a website and Kmart mobile shopping app. Are you looking for affordable clothing, bed linen, bedroom furniture, electronics, or beauty products? Kmart.com can help you save money in many different lifestyle departments.
Shopping on Kmart.com
Kmart’s motto is “Shop your way” and their website certainly reflects this idea. The colorful, rotating banner at the top of Kmart’s homepage highlights their latest deals so you won’t have to look far to get a jaw-dropping discount on seasonal items. If you’re looking for something in particular, you can “shop your way” through the toolbar of department categories towards the top of the page, or you can find exactly what you’re looking for by using the search bar.
Shopping on Kmart’s website is quick and easy, and you won’t have any trouble finding current promotions, such as “Free Shipping on Orders Over $35” located in the top right-hand corner. If you plan on shopping regularly with Kmart, then signing up for an account will make checking out easier, in addition to giving you access to member-exclusive offers.
Deals and Coupons
Looking for great ways to save on Kmart.com? Then don’t miss the Deals and Coupons section, located at the top of the Kmart homepage. The Bluelight Specials section offers massive discounts (as much as 90% in some cases) on shoes, toys, jewelry, and more! These specials are available on a limited-time basis, so sign up for the Kmart e-newsletter to get the latest updates on bargain hunting opportunities through Kmart.
Sometimes, Kmart offers incredible “Freebie Days” for customers online or in their stores. For example, they recently hosted a Freebie Saturday where the first 500 kids under 12 years of age to visit a Kmart store received a free pair of sunglasses. Follow Kmart on social media to learn about upcoming Freebie opportunities.
Kmart’s Layaway program is valid a few times per year and during this timeframe, you will be able to purchase items online or in-store for as little as $10 down. Once you make your down payment, you’ll be entered into a contract, which outlines additional service fees and payment dates. You can make payments every two weeks through an online portal on Kmart’s website and once you complete your final payment (within 2-12 weeks, depending on the cost of the item), you can pick up your item in-store or have it shipped to your home.
Save Money on Gas
Did you know that spending at least $50 at Kmart could save you as much as $0.20 per gallon at participating gas stations (BP, Speedway, and Kmart Express)? If your Kmart order qualifies, you’ll receive a coupon for this offer to use at valid gas stations. Be sure to go when the tank gets low to maximize your savings on gas!
Sears Card for Kmart
Kmart and Sears are owned by the same company, so you can earn the same rewards by shopping at Kmart or Kmart.com with a Sears credit card as you would earn by shopping with Sears or on Sears.com. You can earn as much as 5% back in points on eligible purchases through both Sears and Kmart, in addition to occasional special offers such as 50% off cardholder discounts on select items or departments, special financing on pricier items like furniture, and other opportunities to earn points.
Kmart Shop Your Way
Kmart’s Shop Your Way program is free to join, and when you sign up, you’ll be enrolled in the Shop Your Way MAX free trial program. This gives you 90 days of access to free shipping and other excellent member benefits. When you’re a Shop Your Way member, you’ll get extra coupons and promo codes and “surprise points” opportunities to save even more money on Kmart’s inventory items from outdoor furniture to televisions and video games. Other member-only benefits range from cash back on seasonal items to discounts as high as 60% on everyday items you can find on Kmart’s website. Since it’s free to join, you have nothing to lose by joining the Shop Your Way program. Best of all, your points can be redeemed for Kmart or Sears purchases, which will take your frugality to the next level.
Checkout, Shipping & Return Policies
When you’re ready to add an item to your cart and checkout on Kmart’s website, you’ll discover whether it’s eligible for Shop Your Way points, determine your shipping costs based on your zip code, and opt to pick up your order for free at a local Kmart store. If you click the “This item is a gift” option, you’ll be able to include a personalized message and have the item wrapped in gift-wrapping at no extra charge to you. You can also choose whether you want to pay in advance for the item or through Kmart’s Layaway program, which we discussed above.
If you just want to purchase the item and have it shipped to you, be sure to enter your coupon code in the box above the “Order Summary” section. You can check out as a member or a guest (guests do not earn Shop Your Way points retroactively, however). All you need is your email address (to receive your digital receipt) and shipping information to get started.
Kmart accepts many forms of payment. Pay using major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover. You can also pay with the Sears Card, Layaway, or a Kmart gift card. Shipping costs $5.99 for most orders under $35. Most orders over $35 are eligible for free standard shipping. Returns are available in-store or via mail, as long as it’s unused and comes with original tags or packaging.
